COMMITTEES

Action Committee :   Chairman:   Art McKoy .   Our goal is to serve you.   The Action Committee fights against injustices.   Call us (1) if you are a victim of crime and would like assistance talking with the authorities, (2) if you want to organize a vigil/memorial because a family member has been murdered, (3) you need help working with the police or getting help or information from the public about a crime, (4) you would like help organizing rallies, searches, contacting pertinent organizations and working with the media if a child or other family member is missing, (5) if you are a victim of police brutality, (6) having trouble with gangs, or (7) discrimination, etc.   The Action Committee will do its best to help you.   The Action Committee vows to be the voice of the voiceless and the protector of widows and children.   You can be part of the problem or a part of the solution.   We will make a difference.   Will you please join us.   We are looking for a few good men and women to join us to make our community a better place for us and our children.

 

The Memorial Wall Committee :    Chairman:   Judy Martin .   WE NEED A NEW MEMORIAL WALL/WALL OF SORROWS.   You can look at pictures of the original Memorial Wall, get a list of the names and check out other information on the following website:   survivorsvictimsoftragedy.org.   The Memorial Wall Committee is raising funds to create a Memorial Reflection Garden or find another place to build the Memorial Wall/Wall of Sorrows.   We need either need to get to build the Memorial Wall on an exterior wall of a building, or we need to locate two or three adjacent vacant lots for the Memorial Reflection Garden, where we would build structures on which we could place the place the Memorial Wall, pictures, poems, flowers, etc.   We would also have tables and chairs, benches, flowers, bushes, and grass.   The Memorial Reflection Garden would be a place of peace in any neighborhood.

 

Hip Hop Workshop/Entertainment Committee :    Chairman:   Al Porter .   If you would like to perform at the monthly Hip Hop Workshops (rap, singing, poetry, dance, etc.), call Al Porter - 386.8843(c) for dates of the Workshops, with questions or for further information.   Come & do your "thang."   You can be mean, but keep it clean.   Hip Hop Workshops :   The Hip Hop Show has clean performances so that families & friends can come down & enjoy themselves.   Good, clean material, rapping, singing, poetry & dancing.   Workshops are being held at the Apthorpe Apartments on Superior near Euclid Avenue.   Chairperson; Al Porter, Dollar Rock, DJ; and Theodore Guerry.

 

Business/Economic Committee :   Chairman:   Judy Martin .   To raise funds to assist Black on Black in its work in the community, organize website.   Donations for Black on Black Crime, Inc. or the to Save the Memorial Wall/Wall of Sorrows can be sent to the address below .

 

Political Committee :   Chairman:   Gerald Henley .   To educate members and citizens about politics, elections, issues, referendums, etc.

 

Education Committee :     The Education Committee keeps BBCI up to date on the educational systems in Greater Cleveland.   The Committee also organizes an essay contest each year.

 

Health Committee :   To provide information for better health, etc.

 

Voter Education/Voter Participation Committee :   Chairman:   Nathaniel Martin .   To provide educational resources regarding voter registration,

 

Communications Committee :   To contact members regarding upcoming activities, events, etc.

 

Youth Committee :   Youth group to work with and within the organizational structure of Black on Black Crime, Inc.   For further information and to be a part of the beginning,

Activities at the Neighborhood Ping Pong & Chess House

Ping Pong & Chess House ("PPCH") : The following activities are offered on the indicated days, at the noted times.   The PPCH is open from 4-9 pm on Tuesdays through Saturdays.   Books, chess, checkers, other board games are available for everyone.   There is also a ping pong table.

Hip Hop Workshops :   The Bi-Weekly Hip Hop Show has clean but mean material so that families & friends can come down & enjoy themselves.   There is open mike poetry & rap, live instrumentation, such as, key board, sax & drums & also music & business lessons taught throughout the evening.   If dancing, singing, rap or poetry is your claim to fame, come & do your "thang."   You can be mean, but keep it clean.   Good clean material, rapping, singing, poetry & line dancing at the Ping Pong & Chess House, 14681 Euclid Avenue, every other Saturday, from 7-9 pm.   Chairperson; Al Porter, Dollar Rock, DJ; and Theodore Guerry, Building Proprietor

Mentoring :   Mr. Guerry works with area youth, helps with school work, provides books and other materials.

 

October 22 :   Meets every Wednesday, at 7:30 pm.   This organization fights against police brutality, among other things.

AA Weekly Meetings :   Every Friday, at 7:00 pm.

Men in Action: Human & Community Dev. Workshops :   Every Saturday, from Noon to 2 pm run by Earnest Harris & Theodore Guerry.   "A Plan to Save Our Young Adults."   Discusses the institutions of church, government, business, clinic, home & school.

Ping Pong & Chess Lessons :   There will be free lessons on Saturdays at 2 pm.
